Protégé Dance Company is happy to offer dance classes to our adults.

Protégé Dance Company reserves the right to cancel or reschedule classes based on enrollment.

Beginning in March 2022, we are offering Adult Ballet on Tuesday evenings, and Adult Jazz on Wednesday evenings.

adult ballet

spring session (8 weeks)

ADULT ballet Description

Classical (Cecchetti Syllabus) Ballet

Class Structure: 1 hour & 15 minutes (Center Barre, Adage, Petit Allegro, Across the Floor)

  • Barre: traditional & technical exercises performed at the barre including: plié, tendu, degagé, ronds de jambe, fondu, retiré, developé, grand battement and port de bras to name a few.
  • Centre: Adage ((slow controlled exercises focusing on balance and transfer of weight), Allegro (basic introduction to jumps) and Across the Floor (corner-to-corner movement).
    All exercises are at the discretion of the teacher based on the level of the adults in the class.
  • Note: Jumps can be easily modified for those who are unable to jump.

Barre Only

Class Structure: 45 minutes

  • Traditional & technical exercises performed at the barre including: plié, tendu, degagé, ronds de jambe, fondu, retiré, developé, grand battement and port de bras to name a few.
    All exercises are at the discretion of the teacher based on the level of the adults in the class.
  • Note: Jumps can be easily modified for those who are unable to jump.

Centre/Across The Floor

Class Structure: 30 minutes

  • Adage ((slow controlled exercises focusing on balance and transfer of weight), Allegro (basic introduction to jumps) and Across the Floor (corner-to-corner movement).
    All exercises are at the discretion of the teacher based on the level of the adults in the class.
  • Note: Jumps can be easily modified for those who are unable to jump.

Attire:

  • Comfortable tight-fitting athletic wear and/or traditional ballet attire. 
  • Shoes: Ballet Shoes. 
  • Hair: Off the face ie: bun, pony-tail, braid, etc. 


ADULT JAZZ Description

Class Structure: 1 hour & 15 minutes

  • Warm-Up: includes technique, stretch, strengthening and conditioning exercises performed in the centre and/or barre (45 minutes)
  • Across the Floor: Traveling skills (ie: strutts, pas de bourrés, chassé variations, as well as kicks, jumps and turns, etc.) explored in both classical and stylized fashion (30 minutes)

Attire:

  • Comfortable tight-fitting athletic wear 
  • Shoes: Ballet, Jazz and/or clean indoor running shoes. No outdoor shoes permitted.
  • Hair: Off the face ie: bun, pony-tail, braid, etc.
